Brooke Katz

Background and Education

Brooke practices primarily in intellectual property law, with a particular focus on trademarks, licensing, brand protection, and enforcement. She works with businesses and individuals to identify, protect, enforce, and strategically leverage their intellectual property. Her practice includes trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement, as well as drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, brand partnership agreements, and other intellectual property and commercial agreements. Brooke has also assisted in developing intellectual property policies and related legislative initiatives for municipal clients.

In addition to her intellectual property practice, Brooke has experience in civil and commercial litigation. She represents clients in matters ranging from pre-suit disputes and settlement negotiations to active litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial proceedings. Her litigation experience complements her intellectual property practice and allows her to approach disputes with both the client’s immediate legal objectives and broader business interests in mind.

Brooke earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2025, along with a Certificate in Intellectual Property and Technology Law. During law school, she served as Senior Articles Editor of the University of San Francisco Intellectual Property and Technology Law Journal. She also gained extensive experience through the school’s Intellectual Property and Internet Justice Clinic, where, under limited recognition granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, she practiced directly before the USPTO in trademark and patent matters.

Before law school, Brooke lived in Arizona for six years and earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Arizona State University. Her academic background includes extensive study in science and health care, interests she continues to bring to her legal practice. Prior to entering law, Brooke worked as an emergency room scribe in the Valley and gained additional experience in health care and clinical research.

Brooke is licensed to practice law in both Arizona and California and is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the State Bar of California. She is also authorized by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to represent clients nationwide in trademark matters.

Outside of the office, Brooke enjoys cooking, spending time with her family and her dog, and making the most of Arizona’s sunshine. After several years in San Francisco for law school, she is happy to be back home in Arizona and putting down roots in the community where she practices.
