Sterling Peterson

Sterling Peterson

Sterling is a partner at Denton Peterson Dunn, PLLC He represents individuals and businesses in numerous aspects of the law. Sterling helps his individual and business clients with issues involving, for example, contract drafting and review, the formation of their business, individual and business disputes including all aspects of litigation, business break-ups (often referred to as “business divorces”), business deals gone bad, unfair competition, misconduct in the management of business, disputes between business partners and/or their employees, failed real estate deals, trade secret misappropriation, and many other needs of the individual and business clients needing general legal counsel and advice.

Sterling has experience in representing his clients in all aspects of litigation, from the very beginning stages that occur before the lawsuit is even filed, to the stages that occur even after winning the lawsuit (which may include collecting on the judgment or filing an appeal). Sterling represents his clients in Superior courts, Appellate courts, Federal District courts, and, if the need arises, in Justice courts. Sterling has years of experience conducting depositions, engaging in arbitration and mediations, and handling all aspects of the discovery process in litigation, which can be highly complex.

Not all clients require court-room/litigation assistance. Sterling also assists his clients with general legal matters and advice. In addition to his litigation experience, Sterling will assist individuals and businesses in non-litigation matters. Some clients need general counsel regarding a particular contract or real estate deal they have entered. Some clients need advice on setting up their business (i.e., what type of business is appropriate for them—a corporation? a limited liability company?) or they need assistance in preparing and filing the various documents that occur in forming a business. Other clients have a business already set up, but need advice for ongoing aspects of running their business, including reviewing and/or drafting legal documents. Other clients require general advice on how to handle management disputes or employer-employee disputes that inevitably arise in the ownership of a business.

Sterling obtained a Bachelors of Arts in English Education from Arizona State University in 1997. He graduated summa cum laude and received numerous scholarships throughout his undergraduate program. In 2000, Sterling received his juris doctor (law) degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor law school at Arizona State University where he graduated cum laude and was a Pedrick Scholar.

Sterling is a native Arizonan. He grew up in Mesa, but now lives in Gilbert with his wife and children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, camping, and biking. He enjoys volunteering for his church and for the local boy-scout troop.

Client Testimonials

"Having had the occasion to require counsel and legal representation recently, I turned to Sterling for clarification and professional guidance through a most challenging obstacle. Solid information and continual, trusted encouragement was provided to me throughout the entire experience and the results of the case left me grateful for his expertise and interest. His knowledge, skill and of course his personal attention to his clients allow me to recommend him with confidence."
"I found myself on the wrong end of a lawsuit. . . . Sterling handled my claim and to be honest I am so happy he did. Within weeks we had a settlement offer . . . . they offered a settlement that had little impact on my life, no out of pocket expenses and it [was] dismissed. I am thrilled with his ability to see through the facts of a claim and relay that to his opposing counsel and effectuate a settlement I otherwise do not think I would have got. I cannot say enough good things about Sterling. He is personable, approachable, knowledgeable, funny, and talented as a lawyer. . . . . I highly recommend him as a lawyer and his firm is great, they give their time and do not just give you time you are paying for but had contact both on an amicable (human) basis, as well as great legal communication."
